Blog Reborn

Hello Everybody,

It has been a while since the last time i posted here but here we go again. Except different. I decided to make this while going on a rather extended bike ride today. This will now be posts of good playlists my iPod Genius makes (or sometimes a personal one i make) while i ride my bike and maybe in the future some pictures of cool stuff i see around Richmond or wherever I am riding and maybe some random thoughts i had while riding or maybe some feelings about the songs themselves. So here it goes feel free to follow my blog and comment and download the playlists I will include with the posts.

Long-ass ride today haha from Byrd Park around maymont through oregon hill across town to church hill and mosby court i think the last intersection i got to before turning around and heading home was Venable and Pink. The weather was a little chilly but in the sunlight it felt absolutely perfect. Overall, great ride and today's playlist was especially great so here it goes.

1. I Wanna Be Adored - Year of The Rabbit. This is a cover of The Stone Roses classic of the same name. It is a little more driving then the original but the way they handle that amazing riff is just awesome. This is the song the playlist was built from

2. Kiss Distinctly American - Q and Not U. Saw this band once this song is kind of out of their norm but perfect for this playlist

3. Requiem - Foo Fighters. I was a bit weary when I saw this on the list but it fit very nicely into the flow

4. To Here Knows When - My Bloody Valentine. You have to listen to this band to know

5.Travel is Dangerous - Mogwai. I'm not getting lazy I swear but these couple songs in a row are so perfect you just have to listen to them to know

6. Mouths of Babes - The Smashing Pumpkins. I cannot believe how long I slept on this band but now every time i listen to a different song by them i am absolutely blown away. This song is great

7. Scars - Moving Units. I got this cd a long time ago i think off of a whim just kind of a interpol rip off but another one of those songs that work very well.

8. Summer (Butcher Two)- Matt Pond PA.

9. Waste It On - Silversun Pickups. Thought this would be awful as i really don't like this cd at all but again it really worked

10. The Love I'm Searching For - The Rentals. Still love this cd glad this song came up to remind me

11. I Wanna Be Adored - The Stone Roses. The original of the first song. I could write a book on why i love this song and how it makes me feel but i feel like this is already getting pretty long so i'll keep it short. This song is incredible if you don't listen to anything else off of this check this out and the rest of the album it seriously is mindblowing in its power and simplicity.

12. Enfilade - At The Drive-In. not gonna lie skipped it haha

13. Endless Shovel - Rogue Wave. Really awesome song picked up off of Sub Pop's free downloads a long time ago still really like it never got the rest though

14. Take Control - Weezer. Not their best song off of their best album but still enjoyable

15. Plume - The Smashing Pumpkins. Just read the description for the last SP song

16. Moon Song - My Bloody Valentine. Dark and beautiful

17. Drive Me Wild - Foo Fighters. the other song i skipped

18. Messenger - Blonde Redhead. This song is beautiful

19. Glasgow Mega-Snake - Mogwai. Amazing

20. Never Meant - Owen. I am really glad i got into this guy his stuff is amazing although admittedly I am not as into his earlier stuff this song is pretty amazing

21. Brilliant Boy - The Rentals. Cute

22. America's Boy - Broadcast. This song is haunting in a way. I love it in this playlist it fits so well

23. checkered floor - the silversun pickups. i really wish this band wasnt in here as much and this song pretty much sucked. i never said this was gonna be all winners haha

24. French Movie Theme - The Smashing Pumpkins. I'm really glad this band shows up so much and all 3 songs they have in here are awesome and this one is probably my favorite. riding back looking over the city from the leigh street bridge with the sun disappearing into the ocean of buildings was could not have been more perfect. i know it's only a minute and there are no lyrics but it's awesome

25. What you want - My Bloody Valentine. This was a great way to drive me home at the very end. just a typically beautiful, discordant MBV song that drives and rocks while overflowing with beauty.

I rate this ride a 9/10

I rate this playlist 8/10 because of a couple of stinkers but the mood of the ride could not be more perfectly conveyed than through the style of music in this playlist

Please feel free to send me any recommendations for music based on this and the other playlists i will be providing. Another side note i listen to lots of types of music so don't expect to hear the same thing next time!
